Not sure what to say?

I first encountered Dr. Prestage when I was an undergraduate at the University of New Orleans. More than a decade later I had the honor of serving as vice president when she was serving as President of the Louisiana Political Science Association. She also served as President of the Southern Political Science Association and the Southwestern Social Science Association. Appropriately enough, I last spoke to her at an annual conference of the Southwestern Social Science Association.

An outstanding educational leader who made a positive contribution in advancing the Common Good!

Please accept our sincere condolences. Jewel was a giant and made a positive contribution in the lives of so many. The legacy of her work has made America a great country.

She was a part of so much and encouraged all to be a part as well. As the Whole includes and needs all the parts. I appreciate her encouragement to do more and be more and serve more. She is a great example of the impact one can have on the whole. God Bless Your Soul, Jewel. Much love and sincere sympathy to you, Jim, and the family. God Bless you all and keep you always in His Hand. Jewel, rest in peace.

May you find comfort in memories and strength in each other's love throughout this difficult time. Dr. Jewel Prestage was chairperson of Louisiana Democratic party at the National Democratic convention in New York City. During the convention, I observed her leadership abilities and political savvy. She was a Phenomenal woman. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am honored to have known Dr. Prestage through the Benjamin Bannekar Honors College at Prairie View A&M University. She was always encouraging the students to reach higher and as a result I'm a PhD student today. My thoughts and prayers go out to Jay and the entire Prestage family. Know that Dr. Prestage's light still shines in our hearts and her legacy lives on for generations to come.
