A huge thanks to everyone who has sent their sympathies and good wishes and to the family far and wide, many of whom are making long trips to be with my dad tomorrow, especially:

Uncles Dougie (and wife Margaret), Gordon and Garry from my late mum Jean's side, along with my cousin alan - jim's nephew and his wife Ros.

My aunt grace, jim's younger sister and his late sister jean's daughters Leslie and Maureen - as he called them "my wee lassies" and one of Maureen's...

My dad, jim mcilroy, brother of jean and grace and uncle of Leslie and Maureen (his wee girls) all of whom he loved dearly. Though we left Kilwinning in 1978, we always knew where our roots were.

Husband of jean his first wife, who died in 1995 and son of James and jeanie of Alexandra terrace, please say a prayer and remember him and his family at this difficult time and on Saturday 3 march when his funeral takes place in Dunfermline, fife.
