I just heard today that Mr. Rearden passed in February. He represented Alaska in my mind. I have numerous books of his and I re-read them yearly. Sorry about his passing.

I spent many an hour in the bush reading Jim's books and whiling away the deep winter evening hours hours going places and meeting people Jim Reardon described. I always wanted to meet Jim, an Alaskan man of many talents. Rest in peace.

What a wonderful man Jim was. Without Jim, many of the stories he wrote for books and magazines would never have been told. As a fellow freelance writer, used to pick his brains about various outdoors-related subjects, and he freely shared his time and knowledge. A steadfast conservationist, Jim will live on as an example for Alaskans to follow.

A quality life. One of the best men I've known. It was my pleasure to work with Jim at Alaska Magazine in the 1980's. We are all better that Jim was so giving and talented in relating the stories, not only of the natural world, but of the fascinating people of Alaska.
I did so love talking about fishing, hunting, and flying with Jim.
Audrey, our condolences.

I'm deeply sorry for your loss. It is a loss felt by many. My Dad, Dave Vanderbrink, was a friend of your family. My Dad also had one of his stories published in one of Jim's books. My Mom, Hazel Vanderbrink, worked for Fish and Gane for many years. I am so sorry. May he be in a better place.
