I was saddened to learn of Jim´s passing and my thoughts are with his family. Jim took a chance on me when I graduated from the hotel school at Oregon State. He hired me into the Marriott training program which began my 40+ year hotel career. After time in California and Arizona I returned to Portland and was fortunate to work for Jim at the Portland Marriott. I remember one time when he was transferred to Oregon, my cousin and I, very young, hanging out in a game room in the hotel... feeling like Eloise. (the story).
