New London - Jimmie "James" Holder, 85, of 149 Huntington St., New London, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at New London Health Rehabilitation in Waterford.

He was born June 29, 1928, in Jefferson, Ga., the son of Jack and Leila Holder.

He was married to the late Catherine Holder.

Jimmie was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and had worked in sales at Sears when it was in New London.

He is survived by three sons, Willie of Gainesville, Ga., William of Newport, R.I., and Rafael of Florida; five daughters, Virginia Green of New London, Angela S. Hylton and her husband, Charles, of New London, Sandra Holder of Virginia, Autumn Holder of Queens, N.Y., and Joy Holder of Virginia; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, James.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Abounding Grace Ministries, 3 Connecticut Ave., New London, with a calling hour from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
