Not sure what to say?

I met Jim briefly at Martinsville Speedway in the spring of 2012. I was a firefighter on pit road that day in Jeff Gordon´s pit. Jim struck up a conversation with me and I told him how I was in a dream scenario that day. I had been a fan of Jeff´s since I was 3 years old. Jim handed me a business card, asked me to write my info on the back, and told me he would send me something. About a week later I received autographed merch from Jeff. Jim from the 1953 Waco High School yearbook

I'm very sorry to hear of Jim's passing. We were good friends during our days at Waco High School. The obituary mentioned that his car collection was all Chevrolet but in the High School days he had a 1936 Ford.

Jim was one of the finest men I have ever known. He went out of his way several times to help me when I was in Kilgore with my father in our Chevrolet store . He also helped me in several ways once I moved to Temple Texas to become the Chevrolet dealer . He was never to busy to take my calls or to visit . When my father passed in 2006 Jim sent me a very kind note and that touched me greatly . He believed we worked together as a team and Chevrolet did wonderful under his leadership . God...

Jimmie was my grandfather. My family and I are so very Grateful that he lived life to the fullest. We loved him to death... We know that he is now in heaven with my beautiful grandmother Barbra Perkins. I love you poppy and I miss you more than you know.

Prayers for all the Perkin families for your loss. Jim will always live in my heart. He is going home to family and friends. What a celebration there will be in heaven. Love you Jim.

So sorry to hear of Jimmie's passing. It came as a shock to me after just having a long and as usual lively conversation about all things including family. He greeted me as always with "What's up Moccasin". I have so many fond memories of him, his mother and father and the kindness and love they showed me. I admired him greatly and always told him if I was ever reincarnated, I wanted to come back as Jim Perkins. He lived a full and rewarding life and made a great impression on everyone...
