James "Jimmy" Fanning James Franklin Fanning, 56, of rural Milan, Missouri passed away Wednesday morning, October 3, 2012 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri. He was born March 31, 1956, at the Sullivan County Hospital in Milan, the son of Rondal and Carol Jean (Jacobs) Fanning. He attended Green City R-1 School where he graduated with the class of 1974. On September 28, 2001 in Milan he married Christy Ann Childers. He is survived by his wife, mother, two step daughters, Julie Sayre and Belinda Hill both of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, one sister, Rhonda Shafer of Green City, Missouri, one nephew, Derek Shafer, one great nephew Dylan Shafer, father and mother in-law, Don and Ina Childers of Novinger, Missouri, six step grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, several aunts, uncles, cousins and many good friends. His father preceded him in death, June 7, 2011. He was also preceded in death by one infant brother, Grady Fanning, his grandparents, two uncles, Edward Fanning and Algie Fanning, and one cousin, Mitchell Sharp of Florida. Jimmy spent his life driving trucks. He previously worked for Coop Oil and Gas and at one time with a Cable TV company. For the past fourteen years, he has been employed by the Childers Farm. He loved being outdoors, deer hunting, and fixing anything needing repairs. Jim was a friend to all and will be greatly missed by many. Funeral services for Jimmy were held 2:00 PM Monday, October 8, 2012 at Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Green City, Missouri. Rev. Alan Coonfield officiated. Pallbearers were Russell King, Marvin Dennis, Doug Childers, Tracy Cleeton, Carey Bushnell, Lynn Carmack, Donnie Rouse, Mark McNear, Steve Cunningham. Honorary Pallbearers were all of his cousins. Burial followed in the Baker Cemetery southwest of Green City. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Baker Cemetery.
