Not sure what to say?

To the second greatest man I was able to know next to my father. Jim gave me more wisdom and direction than any person I knew. And will always glad to have meet him and been in his life. I will always miss him. Love Ronnie Rinehart.

Toni Just found out & let me know. She doesnt get the paper anymore. We are both very sad to hear of this Glener, Joël,and Gina Ruth. Please accept our sincère condolences. Jimmy was a lovely person. Always full of good humor and kind. Many good memories of y'all growing up. Thanksgiving at the house, dinners, etc... May the Good Lord grant you peace. He has only transitioned like our beloved Tina. I know it. Take care Glener. As I am back in France, sorry to have not been able to attend....

I was 6 or 7 when Rev. Gilland pastored Shiloh United Methodist Church. I remember he had a good sense of humor, but not too much about the sermons since I was so young. I remember Glener delivered a baby while they were there (around 1958?). My sympathy goes out to all of the family. Sincerely, Gladys Hoover Shoemaker ( daughter of Archie & Zula Hoover)

Sending love and condolences to Gina and Arch and all the family. Your Dad sounds like he was a wonderful person. Much sympathy to all

Glener, Joe and I were so sorry to hear about our beloved Jim. We will be unable to attend the service because we will be at the beach with Elizabeth and family. We wish we could be there. Our love and prayers are with you and the family

I first was introduced to Jim and Glener about in 2015 at first Methodist of Waynesville. My dad took me to ss class and Jim was teaching. From there we became friends. Jim and Glener became a supporter of me during some real times. First when my dad passed in 2015 and then when my wife passed in 2022. They were there to help me thought the hard times thought phone calls and visits. I will miss Jim and his wisdom. He was a great man. Love forever.

I met Jim and Glener when they joined a new monthly memoir class I facilitate at Trinity Oaks in October 2016. Jim and Glener were faithful attendees as long as his health allowed. They came in holding hands and always sat together at the same table in the Card Room. Both shared wonderful memories. Each Christmas the class publishes a booklet of stories, but Jim and Glener also gave copies of what they wrote each year to their family. Jim was a true treasure, a "gem," if you will. He...

We were honored and blessed to have Jim and Glener Gilland as near neighbors at Lake Junaluska. Our family bought this house in 1958, so we were neighbors for many years and remain neighbors of Gina and Arch Campbell. Members of the Gilland/Campbell family exemplify the definition of the "good neighbor." Jim Gilland once saved our house when he noticed smoke and called the fire department. The furnace had caught fire while we were away. Recently Gina notified us that a broken tree was...

Jim was a good friend who leaves a legacy of ministry for many of us to appreciate. We served nearby churches in Charlotte and our daughter worked with him for a few years at Providence. My memories of him will bless my life for years to come. My God's greatest comfort be with Glener, Gina and all the family.
