Here is an additional comment after my previous signing cut off this comment. Several years ago I was in a local hospital and the nurse attending me said she was originally from Washington, N.C. I mentioned that I had gone to East Carolina and had a roommate from Washington by the name of Jimmy Hodges. She said that he was one of her very favorite teachers. We had great conversation after that. I am sure Jimmy is getting a well deserved reward and I know I shall miss him.

Jimmy was 11 days older than I. Both of us enjoyed classical music and often went to sleep with great music playing. I visited his home in Little Washington on one occasion. He loved his family very much. I am sure Jimmy was a great teacher, knowing his interests and commitment to all that he held dear. I...

During the years we both taught at Washington High School, we could always count on Jimmy Thad subbing and walking the halls for exercise during his planning period. Always happy and upbeat, WHS and ECU have lost one of their biggest supporters. We're sorry for your loss. Prayers for the family.

I had the privilege of living in Washington NC from December 1970 until November 1978. I was hired to be the Director of Child Mental Health @ Tideland Mental Health Center serving Beaufort, Martin, Tyrrell, Washington & Hyde Counties. Being a native of Wilmington NC & a member of the Jaycees, I transferred my membership to the Washington Jaycees. I met Jimmy Thad Hodges in the Jaycees. He & others were welcoming to a non Washintonian. We worked on many community projects together. He was a...
