Not sure what to say?

I found this site because I was looking up Lash LaRue on the internet and the entry described him as a "born again Christian," which I also am and my Wife. I saw Dr. Tharpe's name as the one who led Lash to Christ, and I just had to read about this man.

I am so glad I did. Reading just the entries on the first page made me want to sit at his feet and hear about Jesus, as all of these have done. What a blessing to have sat and learned. So many have left the faith and sit and listen...

Dear Tharpe Family:

I am sure you will not remember me, but I wanted to share with you as I have received many messages of the same nature about my father. Dr. Tharpe was a giant in my eyes. Tho I had not seen him since 1968 when my daddy was associate pastor to Corbitt Mask at Twin Cities Baptist Church in Bossier City and went on to organize Bethel Baptist Temple in Benton, La under the authority of Baptist Tabernacle. My Daddy taught at BCC while pastoring...

Dear Tharpe Family,

May God comfort you with His special grace at this time in your life.
Brother Jimmy and your precious mother are now enjoying the heaven
he preached about so many years. I think about the wonderful time
they are having now !

Precious memories flood my soul when I think of your Dad and Mom.
I cherish the many times I was a guest in the Tharpe home during the
almost fifty years I knew them. They always made you feel so very
welcome and so...

Dear Family,

My heart goes out to each one of you as you deal with your Daddy's homegoing. Your daddy and sweet mother hold a very special place in my heart. My family came to Missionary Baptist Tabernacle when I was 14 years old. My grandparents whom you knew so well had moved from Arkansas and joined "The Tabernacle". Mother, myself, Cynthia, Susan and Lynette were attending another church but I asked mother if she would please consider changing churches. She agreed to visit so...

I have waited to write an entry into my Daddy's guestbook until I thought I could find the word's to adequately express my feelings. I still feel there are no words that can ever totally describe how I feel. I have felt so overwhelmed at the outpouring of love, prayers, phone calls, cards, and words from so many people's lives that this man of God touched. Our entire family have realized the magnitude of his outreach and how blessed we were from God to have been his children. We all...

FAREWELL
GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT
AND OUR BIGGEST FAN
DR. J.G. THARPE

For all of us who ever played a down, hit a home run, sank a last second shot, or coached a game, we will never forget you. The vision you had for a sports program, or just the love of the game, gave us all a second chance and made all of us better men.

Dearest Tharpe Children,
This is my second attempt to write. Without a doubt, I did not save the first one before I tried to send it. However, after such beautiful notes have been written, what else can I add. My heart is overflowing with memories of the past with your mom and dad. The roots of your family are so deep rooted with the roots of mine, that binds us together for the rest of our lives. I remember when all of you called be Auntie Helen, and some of you still do. I love it. Steve...
