The Jacobs were a big part of my time at Kalamazoo College in the 60s. I saw them about once a week when I did their ironing. I learned a lot from Jo.

Katie, Scott, and Becky. Have thought about you many times over the years. Upon a search, I discovered this obituary. Just wanted to let you know that your mom influenced me in many positive ways, one of which was to always be open-minded. The world needs more like her.

I have been blessed to have Jo as a friend and mentor. She encouraged me to go back to school and become a teacher. I have been teaching for over 15 years. Each year, I read a book to my students that Jo gave to me. I wear a hat in honor of her love for literacy and children. You will always be gentle on my mine.

I had the honor of crossing paths with Jo many many times through the years. She was encouraging, engaging, and energizing all rolled into one. She was a gift. My sympathy. Linda Czapla. Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Ms. Jacobs was a powerful fighter for women's rights. Thanks to her, my daughter takes sports and equality for granted, as she should.
