Not sure what to say?

Jo was such a great friend. I have known her since Butler Grade School through freshman High School when I moved away. But she wrote such delightful letters I always felt I was still there. I miss her laugh and the way her eyes were always focused on who was talking to. We had few encounters due to distance but they were so treasured. Her wedding to Patrick was beautiful. I saw the boys grow up in pictures from school she sent and from Grandma Mary Howarth who kept in touch as well. I´m...

To Patrick, Paul and Will: I am so very sorry to hear of Jo's passing...especially so late in the year. I knew Jo during our years at Lawrence. While we never traveled in the same circles, I got to know her during our Spring '76 semester in London. Jo was exceptionally kind, clever, fun and simply a delight to be around. We kept our friendship back on Appleton campus. She is widely remembered as a wonderful soul and my heart is heavy hearing this news. Mike Powers LU '78

Mary Jo and I traveled together in the spring of 1976 during Lawrence's 1976-77 Program in London. After months of dreary weather and rain in London, we sought the sun. So off we went on a $100 roundtrip air fare from London to Rome. From Rome, we traveled to Naples, Florence, Sorrento, the Isle of Capri, Brindisi, Amalfi, Athens and other areas of Greece, and finally to Aix en Provence, and back to London. Mary Jo was indefatigable and open to new adventures. In Greece, her bright smile...

I knew Mary Jo from college in Appleton. She was one of the coolest people I ever met. She would help me in so many ways, and scold me when I was too conservative. God bless, Jo, and know that your presence on this planet will be missed.
