Joan Abdoo passed away peacefully the morning of July 26, 2021 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the age of 78.
Joan leaves behind her husband of 53 years Richard A. Abdoo, her son Mark A. Abdoo, her daughter Denise C. Abdoo, and her sisters, Asma Tapert, Carol Kearney and Barbara Malewicz.
Joan was known for her strong opinions and love of needlepointing and quilting. She was an excellent cook.
Joan had a passion for service. She was active over the years in supporting her children’s schools, St. Eugene’s Elementary School, The University School of Milwaukee and Marquette University High School. She was a benefactor to the Mayo Clinic. She also supported many charities, including the River West Food Pantry and the Marquette University Women’s Council Scholarship.
The Abdoo family greatly appreciates the care provided to Joan by Joleen Hubbard, M.D., at the Mayo Clinic, James P. Thomas, M.D., PhD, at the Medical College of Wisconsin, the staff at Froedtert Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin, The Milwaukee Catholic Home, and Horizon Hospice.
A memorial celebration for family and close friends will be held in the future. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials in Joan's name may be made to the River West Food Pantry or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
