Not sure what to say?

Dear Anthenien Family,

I just learned of your mother's death from Eleanor Westbrook and am saddened at your loss and mine. As a young Dominican, I first met Joan at St. Albert's in about 1963 when you all lived on Chabot Road. About 20 years later we renewed our acquaintance when I took a consulting job for the three Catholic schools at GTU when she was registrar at DSPT.

Dear Anthenien Family (Marcia)

We worked several years with Marcia in Berkeley at the Blue and Gold Market. Marcia was aways a loyal friend and decated worker. We met Mrs. Anthenien with Marcia and a couple of her sisters at Christmas one year at the Nutcracker in San Francisco. Dear Anthenien Family,
I had the honor of getting to know both your mother and father while at the respite program in Orinda. Your mother was a wonderful woman who was devoted to your father. I remember fondly many talks with your mother, and the sparkle in your father's eyes, particularly when we sang "Oh Suzzana" during the program. I also remember the great sadness when your father passed. Please except my sympathy now on the passing of your mother.

As a friend of Mrs. Anthenien’s son John, I would spend many summer days listening to music, wrestling with the family dogs, or sneaking delectables from the fridge (we knew she knew, but she never said a thing). Mrs. Anthenien was a voice of reason as we grew up in the ‘70s, and her advice still resonates in our lives. I pray for comfort for her extended family.
