Joan Barker

Joan Barker, 75, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2009. Born in New York, NY, to the late Reginald and Edna Leadbeater, Joan was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Virginia Beach, VA and St. Francis de Chantel in Wantagh in New York. She was the widow of Robert J. Barker, and is survived by a daughter, Linda Anne Constant and husband Alan of San Francisco, CA; two sons, Robert Barker and wife Docious of Glendale, CA and Tom Barker and wife Donna of Jefferson, NY; a brother, Roy Leadbeater and wife Cheryl of Virginia Beach, VA; three grandchildren, Tommy, Jessica and Willy; a great grandchild, Patrick; two nieces, Beverly and Ann; a nephew, Darrell; and many special friends from Long Island and her childhood. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at First Colonial Inn, 845 First Colonial Rd., Virginia Beach, VA by Fr. Joe Slattery. Burial will be at a later date in Calverton Cemetery in Calverton, NY. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
