Not sure what to say?

At this late July 2024 date we are saddened to "see" you've left us seemingly but glad to have experienced such kindness and love and Lakeside comforting welcoming to the point that we still "see" your glowing smiling lovely face: ...Thinking of You... "Thank GOD for Joan (and Dan)..."

I am so grateful to have had the privilege of staying at your beautiful bed and breakfast. Joan was an amazing host, cook, artist, writer - and I have many memories of staying before Vic and I bought our cottage. Will be praying for your entire family.

A friend just shared the news of Joan's passing. My deepest condolences to Dan and the family. When we think of Lakeside, we think of Joan and Dan at Idlewyld. I am going to miss sharing with her. She liked to share what she was writing, creating and thinking. She was such a proactive, inspiring lady. May she rest in peace. Thanks be to God.

My deepest condolences to the Barris family. Keeping your family in my thoughts & prayers. I will always have many, many fond memories of Mrs. Barris. May she rest in peace.

I am part of a group that has enjoyed staying at Idylwild in September for the last 7 years. We have grown to love Dan and Joan. Joan was a talented artist and writer. She taught us watercolor and read us stories. She made us feel welcome and well taken care of. She inspired us. We will miss her greatly. Our hearts go out to Dan and the family.

Joan was a gentle spirit, yet strong in every way! She always welcomed me like family during my many visits to Lakeside & The Idelwyld! She and Dan were great hosts. So talented with her writings, artwork, and yummy recipes. You will be missed my friend! Deepest sympathies to Dan and the family.

Dear family and Dan, A part of God's Love is back home with Him as we miss Joan but celebrate in Thankfulness to Him for her, born from Heaven as we wait to be reunited with her as The Lord, Jesus, promises. My memories of Joan's Love was experienced through her "hobbie" (as she called it), The Idlewyld B & B in Lakeside,Ohio. She and Dan practiced The Lord's Will when He said, "Come and have breakfast." (in John 21.12) SO MUCH LOVE IN HOSPITALITY! They were Lakeside grandparents to our...

Enjoyed our days together at Andrews School for Girls. Joan was fun-loving and a great friend.
