Joan Barthel

I just read a delightful Editor's note describing Joan's work in the January 29, 1971 issue of Life magazine. It inspired me to look up what became of her life after that issue. Her life seemed to be getting into full swing back then, with a new daughter and a series of well done articles under her belt. It appears that she had a full life, perhaps too short for her daughter and sister. Please know that her work and smile are still reaching people.

She went to St. Andrew grade school. She was more successful than most of us who graduated from there.

Anne. I just found out from my mother Carol Bacher that Joan had passed. I am so sorry, she was a very favorite cousin of mine. She was always interested in me and my family and such a joy. She will be missed. And I was so,happy she attended ny ordination to the diaconate,
I hope,to be able to be at her memorial mass.
