Joan Biggs

Our mutual friend, Kathy Smith, encapsulated Joan's spirit well. "She indeed was a force of nature". I first got to know Joan, back in 1975, when I was the Promotion/Public Affairs Director for KINK-FM, the sister station to KGW-TV, where she was Public Affairs Director. I was fortunate to work with Joan at KGW. She was an incredible broadcaster, leader, visionary and contributed so much to Portland.

Oh I never expected Joan to pass on ! She was a force of nature ! She left a lasting legacy on the Portland landscape ! So intertwined with the new Portland and its development! Rest in glorious peace my friend!

Joan was quick with a quip or wry observation - funny. I enjoyed her energy and enthusiasm. She connected the station with Portlanders through her public affairs work during the 'golden years' of KGW TV.

I worked with Joan on the Board of the Oregon ACLU for many years. She was a courageous, passionate advocate for justice and human dignity. She will be missed..
