Joan S Bofinger (76) of Philadelphia, PA , lifelong resident of Bridesburg Passed away Thursday July 25th in her home surrounded by family and friends. Joan was the proud mother of James Eric, Marc Evan (Amy). Scott Everett. She is survived by her grandchildren Avery, Jeremy, Michael, Allie, Isabella and Emerson. Dear sister of Ann Englehart and Albert Smith. God-Mother to Danielle Markee and Joseph Englehart. Aunt to many nieces and nephews, a friend, and a loving surrogate Mom and Mom-Mom to many. Joan could be best described as a “free-spirit, fun-loving, friendly woman”. Joan did things Her-way. Joan was not the adventurous type she loved being in her home. You could usually find her Sunday evenings playing cards with her friends, where they shared laughs, pennies and box-wine. Joan worked a few years at the Boys & Girls Club in Frankford teaching one of her passions Arts & Crafts. She spent many years as a coach, a den-mother, a day care standy-by, a hair-dyer, or someone to lend a shoulder to cry on. As she came into the roll of grandmother, she was known for pulling a tooth or two. Joan had many rolls through the years but her best was a Loving mom and Mom-Mom. It was her love for her boys and their children that she was most proud of. Her sons would like to give a big thanks to the woman who were Joan’s care-givers when she needed it the most. Joan was very fortunate to have you and once again we are sure you all have your own “Joan stories”. Thank you to her long time friend Donna Ludwig, Laurie Lipski -Gipson, Danielle Ludwig- Markee and Maricatherine Roonan. You provided the security that was needed to make sure she was safe. Joan survived many illnesses through the years and had many lives, However, it would be Alzheimer’s that would defeat her spirit. Relatives and friends are invited to gather to remember Joan on Thursday evening, August 1st from 5:30pm-7:30pm at the Slabinski Sucharski Funeral Home, 2614 Orthodox Street, Phila.,PA 19137. Religious services will begin at 7:30PM. Interment Private. Donations can be made “In Memory of Joan Bofinger” to the Bridesburg Boys & Girls Club, 2901 Bridge St. Philadelphia PA 19137
