Joan Buttrill passed away in San Diego, California. The obituary was featured in San Diego Union-Tribune on January 17, 2014.
One of my best and favorite memories of 2nd grade was my beautiful and fun teacher, Mrs. Buttrill. God bless her and her family and all who she warmly and personally touched. This angel on earth now has her well-deserved wings. LOVE.

Mrs. Buttrill was my second grade teacher, and my first teacher who I loved! She is definitely the most memorable. I am really glad she was a part of my elementary school experience and was such a big part of shaping me. I didn't want any other teacher after her! She has a little piece of my heart. I am sure she touched thousands of kids in the same way she touched me. God has a new angel, that's for sure!

Dear Trisha and Jeri,
I was the principal at Marvin when your mom taught there. Not only was she a super teacher, but such a kind and loving person to boot. I just learned of her passing when my Christmas card was returned, and I went to Google and found this beautiful memory book.. One of my fondest memories, among many, was when we took all the GATE ( gifted ) classes to the east coast, along with parent chaperones. Lots of fun and a terrific learning experience for the kids.

Sorry to hear of your moms passing. I did a number of remodeling things for her.
Kitchen, Bath, Fireplace, TV Cab.
She was a great pleasure to work for.
Always a good and happy person.
I still remember the sent of the star jasmin by her entry. And the red brick front area.
She had good taste.
Let me know if there is going to be a funeral and rememberance of life, Id love come.
