Not sure what to say?

I just saw the news and I'm really shocked. Joan was as full of life as anyone I ever knew. Charm, competence, warmth, these do not do justice to her. She will be missed by many.

I am so.late, so saddened to hear about the news. Joan and Brian Gave me my first job IMG. Great couple, great people.... Just amazing friends.

I will always keep you in my heart.

I am so sorry to have received this news so late. Joan (and Brian) were among my best friends; and I miss them both. I now realize that I was in touch with Joan four weeks before the end. She sounded happy and upbeat, the way I will always remember her.

I am so sorry and saddened to hear of the death of Joan (i just heard today). I had so much admiration for Joan who was such an intelligent and classy lady. Joan gave me my first job at her and Brian's company, IMG and I was always grateful to her for that. My deepest sympathies go out to her daughters and family.

Sometimes I fall behind in listening to it recorded on XM, so only recently heard his first show since learning of Joan's death. I did not know they were friends, but he spoke movingly about Joan and his friendship with her, and how he will miss her, and said that he would toast to her when he was next in Paris (a tradition he said he and Joan had). His comments...

To Joan's Family: I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I feel very privileged to have gotten to meet and work with such an amazing person. She is an individual I will never forget. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Caroline, Joanie & family,
I was very sorry and sad to learn of your Mom's passing. She was a wonderful and special person. She was a friend and mentor since I moved to Washington 10 years ago. I will miss our occasional chats and lunches. Her laugh and smile could brighten a large room.
My sincere sympathies, Brian Atchinson

Deeply shocked at your sad loss. I cannot imagine a Hollins 40th without Brownie.

Joan, your class of '72 at Hollins will SO miss you! How can we have reunion without you? I know your family and friends have such a hole in their hearts with you gone....rest in peace
