Joan Brick Davis

Joan was a a force of nature, although a quiet and self-effacing one. Her hospitality and generosity were without rival; shared meals and talks always rich and interesting. She never seemed elderly, or even old, and her eyes very often had a deep twinkle. She was wry, and a great reader and editor, and seemed to always love company, whether she came to you or you went to her. I was lucky enough to share a studio with the wise and wonderful Joan Davis. She was an inspiration, not just in the studio, but also in the kitchen, the garden, and in the great world beyond. I treasure her memory and send sympathy to her family and friends.
