Not sure what to say?

I was telling coworkers just this week about Dr. Finn and how she used to walk the track in the field house while eating a red pepper like an apple. I often think about how my life trajectory would´ve changed if just one thing went differently along the way. As my advisor, she helped finagle some prereqs so I would not have to spend an extra semester getting my exercise science degree. Because of that kindness and confidence she had in me, I graduated and continued my education at Johns...

My heart felt sympathy to Joan's family and friend. She is still remembered and missed. It was an honor to serve on committees with Joan because her compassion was an inspiration.

I am saddened to have found out that Joan has moved on.Gosh i can not begin to express what impact she had on my life while i was in school.what a wonderfully warm, positive and generous person.I have never forgotten her;often missing her special kind and energized personality.Shocked, given what she studied and taught, to find her departure so much sooner then any of us would have expected.I am happy to hear that she was in nature and doing one of the things she loved most when she took the...

Dr. Finn arrived at SCSU in the fall of 1976 and her impact was immediate. Dr. Finn was an assistant coach to Head Coach Dr. Doris Metrelis and the SCSU field hockey team achieved great things that season - 6th in the nation at the National Tournament in Philadelphia - and Dr. Finn was a big factor.

My memories of Dr. Finn 36 years later: always smiling! What a positive person! Dr. Finn would great me with such great enthusiasm! What a great Sports Psychology class that Dr. Finn...

Dear Joan,
after not having seen us on my trip to Williams College for a class reunion in 2009 we wanted to meet us in Switzerland this year or in 2013.
And now? It is difficult to find words.

With love Guido Schilling

I had Dr. Finn as an undergraduate student & graduate student. I admired her greatly. She really was an inspiration for me to go into teaching after earning my B. S. & M. S. in exercise science. Joy Moulter (Wallingford, CT)

Dr. Finn was my thesis adviser, professor, and friend. Her passion for life and teaching is very hard to come by. I am honored to say I was taught by Dr. Finn. She truly defined what a teacher should be. There was NEVER a moment when she was too busy to help a student. The experience and people I met in the Human Performance Lab she directed will never be forgotten. Dr. Finn, I will miss you. Thank you for all that you gave. I know you are smiling down with The Holy Father.

I taught at Southern Connecticut from 1973-1982 and had the opportunity to teach with Dr. Finn for most of my years at Southern. I never recalled seeing Joan Finn without a great sincere smile on her face and her eyes showing so much passion and interest in what you were saying. She loved her students and helped so many prepare for their careers. She will be missed and I am sure we will smile when we think about our personal and professional relationships with her.

After knowing Dr. Finn throughout my years at SCSU and thereafter - as a student, as a teaching assistant, as a research fellow in her laboratory, and as a mentee - I am deeply saddened by this loss. She taught me numerous life lessons that I will never forget. I have and will continue to remember that there is always time for the things that I put first.
Doc – Thank you. Your memory will always live on.
