Joan DeLanoy Fredericks

Sorry to read of Joan's passing, just so recently.
She was a lovely person, and always on the mark. How the years fly by - we, like Martha, go back to way before you two were married - Houston as Joan's colleague at NIH, where he in fact still works! I retired from law practice last year due to health reasons. Our condolences to you, Stan, in your loss of Joan.

I met Joan when we were colleagues reviewing research grants at the National Institutes of Health in 1986. She remained a true, loyal friend. We were both single when we met and shared a number of social experiences. When Erik and I were married, Joan graciously hosted a reception for us at her home in Bethesda. I am so sorry to learn of Joan's passing. She was my mother's childhood friend and she has been a close family friend all of my life. When I was a child, she was one of the first "adults" I felt comfortable talking with. That opened the door for many opportunities for me and for that I shall be forever grateful. She was such a wonderful, caring woman and I know will be missed by many.
