Joan Rogers Ginn, 86, of Carnesville, GA, passed away Thursday evening, November 12, 2015, at the Athens Regional Medical Center. Born December 26, 1928, in Huntsville, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Virgil Llewellyn and Martha Steakly Rogers. She was the widow of the late Robert S. Ginn, Sr. The last member of her immediate family, she was the sister of the late Mary Jo Holt, Robert Wayne Rogers, Edna Dawkins, Virgil Llewallyn "Welly" Rogers, and Sarah Park. She grew up in Royston, GA and attended Royston High School and graduated from Huntsville High School. She worked with her husband at Ginn Funeral Home and was a teacher's aide at Carnesville Elementary for many years. She was a member of the Carnesville Woman's Club and the Franklin County Retired Teachers Association. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Sid and Lynn Ginn, Carnesville, and David and Becky Ginn, Canon, GA; two daughters and son-in-law, Mary Beth Westbrook, Carnesville, and Susan G. and Dale Hodges, Boston, GA; six grandchildren, Erin Register, Katrina Calderwood, Britt Ginn, John Lee Ginn, Taylor Brown, and Natalie Hodges; and nine great-grandchildren, Kaliegh Ginn, Ivey Ginn, Claire Conner, J D Ginn, Georgia Ginn, Sarah Calderwood, Philip Calderwood, Gavin Calderwood, and Roper Brown; many loving nieces and nephews: her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Taylor, Toccoa, GA; two special friends, Camilla Jordan and Jimmie Van Winkle; and her beloved miniature poodle, Charlie. Services will be 2 pm Sunday afternoon, November 15, 2015, at the B. D. Ginn Memorial Chapel of Ginn Funeral Home with Rev. Grady Jordan and Rev. Britt Ginn. Interment will be in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery. The body is at the Ginn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8pm Saturday evening.
