She would chuckle of knowing I did finally complete my dream of creating a life size baby elephant from paper mache. I just needed the help of 30 little Girl Scouts. I taught with Joan at Valencia High from 1966 to June of 1969. It was my first teaching job and she was a wonderful mentor to me. We became friends and did socialize some. I moved away and we lost touch until she and Walt retired and moved to San Clemente. In the 80´s and 90´s we got together for lunch or dinner. She was a lovely person and has a special place in my memory. I have lived in Oregon for the past 14 years and lost touch with Joan. Something made me think of her today....
