Joan was one of the kindest and warmest people I have ever met. While I saw her at Noe often in the summer when the kids were young, my fondest memories are at the grocery store. What? Why? I'd run into her and 45 minutes later we would still be chatting. (And putting frozen food back so that it would not defrost).
