Not sure what to say?

I have pictures of your mom, a picture of your dad, and an incredible picture of your dad hugging your mom. I don´t think I have ever seen a photo of a couple that shows such love. I look at my photos so frequently. I feel like I was raised by Jim Deutelbaum and Sam Karff. I feel so lucky I had them in my life, in my memories and even in my dreams. Love, Judy

a women to never forget.

Dear Sam,
You may not remember me, but I know you remember my parents, Harry and Leona Mills from Temple Beth El in Flint. How sad that you have lost Joan. We are very proud of all your successes after leaving Flint. We were not happy when you left, I must say.
Muriel Mills Sheppard (and Ed Sheppard - Despite Ed's dementia, he remembers our visiting with your mother one time. I'm not sure where, but maybe in Florida?)

Take care and keep on doing what you are so good at.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you Sam and your family at this time of grief. Joan was a special lady to us and everyone who came in contact with her. We will miss her!

My Condolences...

Michael Karff

Our memories of Charlevoix, Michigan, are of being your neighbors for a short time each summer. What a lovely time we had sharing conversations and the lake with the two of you. We so admired Joan's bright and optimistic spirit.
With sympathy and sadness,
Jim and Rachel Roberts

I WAS SURFING THE INTERNET AND LEARNED THAT JOAN HAS PASSED AWAY. I REMEMBER HER MOST OF ALL AS A VIBRANT YOUNG WOMAN AT CHICAGO SINAI CONGREGATION ON CHICAGO'S SOUTH SIDE. I HAD A BABY AND MADE A FEW MATERNITY FROCKS, AND GAVE THEM TO JOAN TO WEAR; SO YOU SEE IT WAS A LONG TIME BACK.

SHE MADE THE MOST OF HER ABILITIES AND SHARED THEM WITH MANY. HOW FORTUNATE FOR ALL.

TO SAM AND HIS FAMILY, I OFFER MY MOST SINCERE THOUGHTS AT A MOST DIFFICULT TIME. YOU WERE INDEED...

I am so sorry to hear Joan died. Rabbi and kids she was so loved by so many people. Sending my love to you all!!

I was deeply saddened when I heard about Joan's passing. She was a delightful person and I enjoyed getting to know her at the temple. My prayers are with you and your family.
