Read MoreI was so very sorry to learn of Joan’s passing. I and another friend of these many years Martha Batchelor, who just passed November 17th, were exchange students with Joan at Lincoln College, Oxford, and were at Joan and Glen’s wedding. Although we three had not seen each other in many years we kept in touch and I valued her friendship over the course of our lives. She certainly will be missed. Audrey (Frayer) Captain.

Last winter, Joan was a student in a class of mine to write one’s autobiography. I, and others in the class, had the great fortune to listen to Joan’s stories which were always filled with great humor. It is heartbreaking to imagine we won’t be able to see her again, or to hear her beautiful stories! We are all blessed to have known Joan and will miss her dearly!
