Joan Hosdowich McCarter

Recently, I was reminded of Joan´s teaching skills. A new colleague´s partner has just arrived in Tempe. They did their undergraduate degree at ASU and recalled that Joan was one of their favorite math teachers. She had such skill as an educator, was beloved by so many of her students, and was an incredible mentor. I had the pleasure of coming under her influence when I was hired as an undergraduate TA. I still miss our talks and often think of her.

Joan was so helpful and patient with new Instructors providing needed feedback so we could improve.

Joan was very inspirational and devoted to bringing modern technology into the classroom, a true leader, and always committed to her students. We miss her.

She was an inspiration to fellow professors and loved by her students. I will miss our far too infrequent dinners and talks.

I had joan as a math professor when i was earning my engineering degree and she was wonderful and took the time to help me to understand the difficult subject.
