Not sure what to say?

Mrs. Meadows was my French teacher at Huffman High School in Birmingham, Alabama, in the mid nineteen-seventies. I adored her. She was the first intellectual I ever met and I have many, many fond memories of inspiring conversations with her about life and literature and art and philosophy and everything else. In addition to life and literature and art and philosophy, Mrs. Meadows was also full of love and joy and compassion and caring--and sometimes sadness: she was very sensitive and felt...

Joan was both a colleague and friend whom I cherished deeply. My life was made richer in love and knowledge because of this association which lasted for many years. May God grant her everlasting peace as she enters and abides in her new heavenly home.

She was my absolute favorite teacher. She inspired me to become a teacher myself. She left behind a wonderful legacy of love and passed along a love of learning. Madame Meadows will be remembered and enjoyed a life well lived.

I knew her best as a co-worker. We had lovely conversations about art, literature, and languages even though I was a science teacher. Very enriching! She was so kind and caring.

My favorite teacher. She was so caring and wanted everyone to excel in her class. She cried one day when I did not do well on a paper and let me rewrite it. I will always remember her fondly.

Danny and I, along with my twin brother Mark went to OLS in Homewood Alabama. We would often stop at the Meadows home on a school day morning and Mrs Meadows would make us delicious french toast. She always wore colorful housecoats and was very friendly. I remember her baby grand piano that had its own room. She was a classy lady. RIP Mrs Meadows. Paul Griffin
