Joan Miller

I will miss Joan ever so much. She was my friend and role model.

I'm profoundly saddened today to learn of both Joan & Wayne's passing. Wayne's photographic ethic & extended projects profoundly influenced this 1980s era college photo-student. A discarded copy of When the World was Young that I found in '84 or so introduced me to Wayne's work. I was overjoyed when he replied to my letters and phone calls then and more so when chatted with me with me by phone last March -- after his nap! Just the sound of Joan's voice and her kinds words were so lovely. I...

Joan was a force of nature in a state of grace. What a rare and wonderful combination. She enriched my life by her presence, her laughter, her intelligence and her wit. A woman for all seasons and indeed for all times. I will miss her terribly, but always be the better for having known her. My sympathies to all you, dear family. Fondly, Heidi Timken

Joan…..a sweet and lively spirit. Kind and wise. Loving and patient. I loved it when you called me “Lass,” and your wrap-around hugs were so warm and wonderful. You were a teacher Joan. We all watched you live your life and marveled at your grace. I miss you and send sincerest condolences to your children and grandchildren who loved you so much.
