John,
I am devastated by Joan's passing. I had no idea of her illness or death until I read the obituary.
As a kid from the Bronx transferring to The Franklin School that freckle face was the first that greeted me. We were inseparable from then on. It was also the first face I saw at my Dad's funeral which sadly was in the same room as Joan's funeral on Thursday. She flew in from Boston shy of 19 years old to be there.

Through Erin I have seen Joan, and everyone at MTV is praying for you all, and for her spirit. We saw it on Thursday, the grace and courage you all showed was the most touching thing we've ever encountered. Our hearts go out to you in this time and may you rejoice in her memory.

The Tichners and by extension, Feinbergs, Millers and the rest of your magnificent clan have always been the epitome of FAMILY to me. Seeing you all together today at Joan's service, deeply feeling the love you have for one another is a tonic of hope for the world we live in today.
