Joan was married to my first cousin Seamus. She was an amazing woman. It seemed like she was going to live forever. She just loved life & lived it to the full. I looked forward to her letters telling me of their adventures. I would be exhausted just reading them. She had so much energy. Its not surprising that she lived to such a great age & continued to live alone in her own home which is testament to the strong woman that she was. Joan was a cousin of my late mother and also her dearest friend. Over the years, I heard many enjoyable stories of Joan who had a very sharp wit. My mother was Betty Dryland and amusingly, Joan called her Betsy Wetsy. Over recent years, I have very much enjoyed having phone conversations with Joan who had a genuine interest in most things and a memory superior to many people considerably younger than herself.
