Joan Stanzel Rosati, age 58, passed away peacefully at her home on August 31, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on November 30, 1966, in Westfield, NJ, to Marguerite “Peg” and Rudy Stanzel. Joan lived a life filled with love, kindness, sharp wit, and a deep devotion to her family and friends. Her warm smile and generous spirit touched all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Joan earned her Associate of Arts degree in Business from Union County Community College. While attending Lycoming College in 1986, she met the love of her life, Ron Rosati. They married on May 26, 1991, in Westfield, NJ, and began their journey together in Deptford, NJ. In 1999, they settled in Crofton, MD, where they built a home that quickly became known as “the place for everyone to gather.” In 2009, Joan furthered her education by earning an Associate of Arts in Paralegal Studies from Anne Arundel Community College, and she went on to work with the DeCaro Doran firm as a litigation paralegal assistant.
Above all, Joan devoted herself to her family, raising four children who were her proudest achievement and greatest joy. She also had a deep love for her furry companions, often filling her days with long walks shared with both her dogs and her children. Her home was a place of warmth and energy—alive with laughter, playful pranks, spirited turkey bowl games, and the most festive Halloween decorations in the neighborhood. Joan’s door was always open, and she had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel like family. She created a home that was not only welcoming but also full of traditions, love, and a sense of belonging that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband and love of her life, Ron Rosati; her son Nicholas and his wife Sydney, along with their sons Carter and Easton; her son Alex; her son Chris and his wife Allison; and her daughter Katie. Above all, Joan considered her greatest accomplishment to be the strong, loving family she built and nurtured.
Joan lovingly survived by her mother, Peg Stanzel of Manchester, NH; her brother John and sister-in-law Jenny of Manchester, NH, along with their children Brittany, Craig, and Jeff; her brother Bill and sister-in-law Stacy of Southport, NC, and their children Kyle and Alex; and her brother Paul and sister-in-law Kathy of Vienna, ME, and their children Madelynn and Annabelle. She was preceded in death by her father, Rudy “Pop” Stanzel.
Joan will be remembered not only for her unwavering devotion to her family but also for her quick wit and sharp sense of humor. She loved to recite movie quotes—especially from her favorite, The Princess Bride—and had a gift for bringing joy and laughter to those around her. She cherished the lifelong friendships she nurtured and held a special place in her heart for her friends from Hamils Court, where she helped build a loving and supportive community. Above all, Joan took immense pride in being a grandmother, mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend. She will be remembered as someone who gave herself wholeheartedly, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and connection that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 14, at 2:00 p.m. at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Highway, Bowie, MD.
