Joan has been gone two years now, but she has never been forgotten. Her many funny ways, he love of her family and her dogs (who were truly part of her family). I loved working with her. She was the best assistant manager and co-worker I ever had. Whip smart. Extraordinarily fair to all. Joan has been 'gone' for over a year now, but images of her at work, with files and "to do' reminders (in the form of dozens of bits of paper spread all over her desk remain. Even more are the memories of the dinners at house and hers and Steve's. These have not faded. They never will.

I first met Joan in 1995 while on a brief assignment in the SSA Office in Easton, PA. Eventually, I eventually transferred to Easton. Between 1999 and 2009, while serving as the District Manager, Joan was an Operations Supervisor, Assistant District Manager and eventually the District Manager. Joan was extremely intelligent, extremely fair and extremely funny both in work (sometimes!) and out of work (always!). But her best traits were her personal integrity and sense of loyalty.
