I have good memories of Joan as a next door neighbor on Fordham Drive in the '90s. Our friendship continued whether I was in Buffalo or Philadelphia or beyond. That meant alot to me.

Today's service and luncheon were a beautiful tribute to Joan. She made the world a better place and will not be forgotten. Even in their time of sorrow, those closest to Joan were warm and welcoming to the many people at the wake and service.

Joan was such a sweet, kind spirit. It was evident how much she loved the kids here at #84 and they certainly loved her. We will all miss her and will always remember her.

She was our "Joanie" in the Buffalo Public School's Speech Department. She was our fearless free spirit. Joan was the epitome of a quiet strength underlined by honesty, dignity and respect. A bright light has now gone out--one we can least afford to lose--one we miss terribly already.
Nothing but love for you, Joanie!

To all who love Joan, Joan was more than a friend for the last 17 years, more than my next door neighbor for 11 years, more than a colleague at School 84 for 8 years. She gave my daughter Katie the patience, love, attention, encouragement, and understanding to speak. As a speech therapist,Joan did that for 35 years with hundreds of students. At 4 years old, Katie had her first full conversation with Joan, not with her parents or siblings. Katie has Asperger syndrome. Joan...

Eileen,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this heartbreaking time. We are so sorry for the loss of your loving partner and best friend, Joan.
We're thankful for the time we had with Joan, albeit shorter than we wanted. No one can take the place of Joan - healer, rakki master, astrologist, cat lover, political activist and community socialite.
Joan always made room in her heart for all her friends, with no requirements or strings attached. We will miss...
