Joan K. Schilling

As we approach the last day that this guest book will be available, we in the family wish to thank all who sent loving thoughts of our Joan. She is certainly missed by all of us who knew and loved her. Janice Walton (sister-in-law.)

Dear Family,
I am deeply filled with sadness with the news of Joan's passing. I was gone for a few days, and got the news upon my return to work. Kathy, you are in our prayers here at work and at home. Kathy and I talk about many things here at work, and her sister was always on her mind. The love in Kathy's heart for her sister runs deep, and I can only guess at her grieving. We never met, but I feel like I knew her, at least a little, through her sisters tears.

On behalf of the Saint Paul Audubon Society, of which Joan was a member for many years, we extend our sympathy to Joan's family and friends.

Joan was such a good person to have on our side in working to preserve the environment in and around Saint Paul and Minnesota. She was a tireless worker when there was an issue to be worked on.

We will miss Joan and her quiet but forthright manner. Thanks for all you helped us with, Joan.

I think what I'll remember most is that Joan loved to learn. She also enjoyed to share that love of learning with her nieces and nephews. Art museums, theatrical performances, science museums . . . she took us to all of them. When I managed a science museum in graduate school, she came to every exhibit that we opened (even if she wasn't fond of the venomous snake one.) I love you Joan. I'll miss you every day.

On behalf of the many clients Joan served at Andrew Residence, we remember Joan as a caring nurse who provided years of psychiatric nursing care to the community. She will be missed by the community of people she served so well.

Joanie, we love you and will miss you dearly. Christmas will never be the same without you. We will burn your candle on Christmas eve as a symbol that you are with the King of Kings.

We have only known Joan for a few short years as her neighbors. We will always remember her as a wonderful woman. It was so nice to see our baby girl (now she's 3) run up to Joan whenever she saw her and give her a hug, or show her one of her toys, or just talk to her about nonsense - and Joan was always interested. I'll remember Joan sharing her raspberries from her garden with our daughter Grace this summer. She has a very special place in our hearts and we will miss her.

I will miss you. Tonight Kathy and I,came home from your wake and talked about you and how much we loved you all the way home. You do have friends Joan, Wonderful compasionate friends. They will all miss you. When we were almost home I looked into the night sky, you know what my eyes were blessed with? The site of the Aurora borealis. Forever, as this wonderful site greats my eyes in the future, I will remember you. I will celebrate you. I will miss you Joan!
We all Love...

Joan was a very special sister-in-law. She was tallented in many areas, at one time servicing cat scans at hospitals. She was always interested in all her nieces and nephews, making photo albums and taking family pictures at all family gatherings.
