Joan O. Shuman, 74, of Lost Meadow Condominiums, Dedham Street, Wrentham, died on August 10, 2003 at the Emerald Court in Norwood. She was the former wife of George F. Shuman.

Born in Northumberland, Pennsylvania on April 28, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Anna (Steele) Taylor. She was raised and educated in Northumberland, PA where she was a graduate of Northumberland High School.

Ms. Shuman resided in the Wrentham area for the past 40 years.

She was employed as the assistant activities director at Charlwell Nursing Home in Norwood for 17 years prior to retiring in 1998.

She leaves five daughters: Coleen Grieb of Surry, Maine; Ann May of Pottstown, PA; Karen Schorer of Norwood; Maureen Sullivan of Manchester, NH and Suzanne Hanlon of Norton; a son: Robert Shuman of Miami, Florida; 9 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a memorial service on Monday, August 18, 2003 at 11:00 AM in the “Commonwealth Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, end of exit go right, funeral home 3/4 mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. Burial will be private.

Visitation has been respectfully omitted.

Supervised children’s room available during the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VistaCare, 354A Turnpike Street – Suite 101, Canton, MA 02021.
