Read MoreI remember Joan from the early 80's when I was in college with her daughter, Debra. Joan was a strong, intelligent woman. I can only imagine how she coped with the tragedy of 1972 and the struggles of raising two girls with their own challenges. What other challenges has she faced since then? I do not know. Condolences.

I have known Joan for over ten years and we became close over this time. I always admired her strength, independence, and sense of humor and relied on her for so much support, advice, and guidance over the years. I could always count on her to lift me or give me her honest perspective. I will miss our talks and I will miss my friend. My thoughts to all who knew and loved her.
