Joan Kurtz St. Clare's School of Nursing Class of 1976
I am so sorry to hear of Joan's passing. Joan was I were graduates of St. Clare's School of Nursing Class of 1976. She was bright, involved, funny, kind, compassionate and dedicated. She was our class officer and the glue that held us together.
Joan touched many lives through support and advocacy, helping others navigate the complex and harsh roller coaster of cancer. I am sure she was a blessing to many others on their journeys.

Joan Sommer was a wonderful woman and she will always live in the hearts and minds of those who knew her. Here is an article where Joan talks about her life. Joan found ways to spread the word, online, in TV interviews and testifying before Congress to raise awareness of ovarian cancer and its treatment. She will be missed. Eternal rest grant to her Oh Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her.
Joan Sommer was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in April of 1993, the day she gave birth to...

Dear Ted and family,
Your Mom was so sweet to me when I first came to Union School. She was welcoming and made me feel as if I belonged. Her smiling face at all the activities we attended was something I looked forward to. Her openness and ability to share is a true inspiration. If she had a bad day it wasn't something she expressed in her every day living.
Please know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. What a beautiful legacy she left in her children.
