Joan Lassiter Tillotson

Joan Lassiter Tillotson, 69, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving and caring family. She was born May 24, 1945 in Wake County to the late Ivan Moore Lassiter and Ethel House Lassiter. She retired as an Administrative Assistant with the Girl Scouts of America after 27 years of service. After her retirement she worked with the NC Sheriff's Association. Joan's family would like to offer their grateful appreciation to the many close friends and extended family that have been so supportive with their love, care, prayers, food and many acts of kindness shown to her. Her friends and family were so vital and important in her life. Funeral service 1:30 pm, Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Longview Baptist Church, 2308 New Hope Road, Raleigh, 27604. Private burial to follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service in the church from 11:30 am to 1:15 pm. She is survived by her husband, Joel Ray "Frog" Tillotson, Sr.; son, Joel Ray Tillotson, Jr. (Shelli) of Apex; daughters: Sonya Jean T. Fulton (Michael) of Kill Devil Hills, Nancy Renee T. Alligood (Brandon) of Clayton; grandchildren: Grey and Trey Tillotson, Brendon and Sydney Swiatkowski, Bladen and Shae Alligood; sister, Margaret L. McDonald of Sanford. In addition to her parents Joan was preceded in death by brothers: Russell, Everette, Robert, Bennie; sisters: Daphine and Betty.
