Mrs. Joanie, AKA Rusty, was a special person to me and my family. As a child, she was the biggest fan of the Balcer girls as we danced and played the piano. As a teenager, she was one of my best confidants, listening to my girlfriend gossip, soliciting boyfriend advice, swapping paperback novels and spending endless hours together at the BYC pool and on the deck of the Lady Joan.
