Joan Von Holten

I am saddened to hear of Joan's death. I remember her as a friend, a parishoner, and the purrfect cat sitter. She lived her life to the fullest-- love of family, friends, teaching, animals, travel; the way she could dial a phone for take-out was incredible!

I will always remember Miss Von Holton as a remarkable teacher, invested tennis coach, and role model. With a big smile and bigger heart she had that special way to bring out the best in her students and players. And whether you won or lost, or didn't quite solve a quadratic equation successfully, as long as you gave your best and tried your hardest she was there cheering on and bolstering confidence. Thank you, Joan, for being one of those teachers whose lessons last a lifetime.

I was so saddened to hear of Ms. Von Holton's passing at such a young age. She was fun and a good teacher. I am sorry for the family's loss. She will be deeply missed.

i learned to love math as a student in miss von holten's 7th grade class. i enjoyed knowing her as a teacher and as a colleague when i began to substitute. she will be missed by all who knew her. her humor, kindness, and love for all students was evident in her teaching. i am sorry for your loss and my prayers will be with you.

Miss Von Holton will always be remembered by me as one of the most knowledgeable and kindest of all my high school teachers. She encouraged each of us to be, and to do our best at all times, not just when it was easiest for us. (her exams could be killers!) She accepted us for what we were, and treated us as the mature adults we were destined to be, although we were no where near that stage of our lives yet.
