My sympathies and prayers go out to Joan´s family. I was employed with Walker´s from 1969-1979 and was the manager of their Ottumwa store for 7 years. Joan was a very special and kind lady. She always had a warm presence and smile. I am saddened to hear of her passing. May Jim and the rest of the family find comfort and peace. Sincerely, Mike and Cindy Johnson

To Jim and the entire family...we were so sorry to hear of Joan's passing. Joan was so loving, caring, and helpful to my dad Tom and his wife Grace, as their neighbors in Lake Worth for many years. They both always spoke so highly of Joan. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jim and the entire family. God Bless each of you!

We are so sorry for your loss. We remember Joan and all of you being such nice neighbors on Kingbard. What a beautiful smile and kind heart! Thinking of you during this difficult time.

Joan was always such a positive presence. I met her at a Delta Gamma Alum gathering shortly after I moved to Waterloo. From that point on I always looked forward to talking with her whenever we met. She was so genuine and you always felt kind of uplifted after chatting with her. What a gift she was to all! My sincere sympathy to Jim and their family.

My forever image of Joan will be her warm smiling face and joyful chuckle of a greeting, letting friends know they were on the inside. I did not realize until now she was adopted. That explains a lot. Never did she forget to cherish a relative, friend or customer. Never let a good friend´s birthday, or holiday pass without a card, email or phone call. Carrying on that tradition with adult children of her and Jim´s longtime friends who had passed. May her spirit continue shining, blessing the...
