Bob: I am deeply saddend by the loss of Joan to you and to us. I regret I did not have many occasions to get to know her better, but remember her as a thoughtful and caring person, true to her calling in social work. I am sorry I won't be able to attend the memorial, as I will be away at GSA in Atlanta. Ching-hwa joins in sending you our sincere condolences. DO take care of yourself, Bob, as Joan would have liked to see you do--for her sake as well. Your friend, Bing

I am so sorry to hear of Joan's death. I know she put up a courageous fight against the cancer and that Bob was at her side throughout. Joan was always a warm, generous, and grounded woman. I know she will be sorely missed.
