Dear Marty and family, I just received a note from the Elms informing me that Joan passed away. I am so sorry to hear this and offer my sympathy and prayers. She was a wonderful room mate and friend. I always admired her gentleness and kindness. She laughed so easily. I missed seeing her at the 60th reunion. You are all in my prayers

I echo Heather's sentiments. Joan was such a classy, elegant and strong woman. I feel blessed to have been able to call her my mother-in-law for all these years and so thankful that my children will always have beautiful memories of their Nana, with her sweet voice, gentle words and peaceful spirit.
