Not sure what to say?

To James, we have just heard after nearly 10 years that our friend Joan passed away. I regret not been in touch. The Wycliffe translators are meeting in our house in Northern Ireland. Joan was so sweet and very funny! I remember too how pleasant a friend she was towards me. I´ll always cherish her. Susan ( kenyan) and gareth gilchrist. Email [email protected]

I just found this in December 2020. Joan and I called each other birthday twins after meeting at the Eben Haezer ChristianYouth Hostel in Amsterdam. We figured out that we were born at the same time on Sept 3,1953 literally with our 3 hr difference from Eastcoast to Westcoast. We both loved Jesus, languages, and sharing Christ.
We had some fun times in Amsterdam. I have tried to find her many times through the years.
I enjoyed seeing her life's work that continued serving with our...

I had the privilege of friendship with Joan at Regent College. She was a shining example to me of someone who clearly loved Jesus and understood our indebtedness to Him. God bless you Jim. Monte Larsen

Kent and Leila

I've known Joan since the days we drove in to Pan Africa Christian College with Kathy Watters. We traded a lot of literacy advice, shared a lot of prayer concerns, and laughed together over the years! I last communicated with her only about 3 weeks before she died. Will miss her very much.

Literacy a good part of my joy together with Joan

I knew Joan in Khartoum, Sudan. We were friends- we went to the market together, built primers together, discussed linguistics, politics and Jesus. I was so glad when she married and fulfilled that dream of her life. I believe her life here was a bit short. I am sad she is not here, and yet I know she is in the arms of her Saviour, Jesus. Her smile and excitement for life and the people around her will always be remembered and I look forward to our time together for eternity. Love you Joan...

May Almighty God rest her soul in eternal peace. I have work with her in Sudan, Khartoum and she has been a good helper and cheerful person who visit homes and love children.

I worked with Joan in Kenya and Uganda in 2000-2001. I remember her as enthusiastic and servant-hearted, as well as a great encourager with a ready wit. Our loss, Heaven's gain...

Our loss but Heaven's gain. Joan is home in glory but we are hurting. My sympathies, thoughts and prayers are with you, Jim, family and her many friends from the mission field and the local area.

I remembering studying the Bible and praying with Joan in Nairobi back in Sudan Branch. We had a good relationship of fellowship then. I now she is rejoicing with the Lord in Heaven now as we all want to do in our time. God bless you, Jim as you go on without her on earth with you. We are praying for you.
