Not sure what to say?

Mike, Nancy and I were very saddened to hear of the passing of your mother. All my memories of her are pleasant and I particularly remember the "patience and kindness" she displayed toward us as teenagers.

Our prayers are with you and your family Mike. I hope our paths cross again soon.

Kenny and Nancy Underwood

Dear Nica and all of Fairbanks and Youngblood family members,

Just like Nica, Joan was a unique and gifted individual. She was a gracious hostess as she welcomed others into her home. My most significant memory of Joan was when I roomed with Nica and Olivia while my husband served in VietNam. She was so kind to me when Nica and I would drop in for visits. She welcomed me into her home and at her table. She included me at family get-togethers at Virginia Beach as if she had...

Dear, dear Nica! My heart goes out to you, to Mike and Lois, to all your nieces and nephews and the whole wonderful lot of you.

Joan sounds like a truly exceptional woman, and I know you will miss her terribly. Siblings share that special bond -- beyond friendship (though friendship is there), beyond family (because you get to bond as equals).

Hold your memories close like jewels.

Mike, Lois, Nica and the Fairbanks family, I am sadden and sorry for the loss of Joan. I remember Joan visiting Nica and going to the Virginia Museum of fine Arts for the Egyptian Exhibit which she enjoyed and I enjoyed being with her. She was a very nice lady.
