Joann was gracious, generous, fun-loving, creative, and very people-oriented. She had a way of bringing different women together, encouraging discussion and connection. I remember with great fondness the many hours she and I spent reading books; discussing feminist theory, quantum physics; and writing together. She had a deep and lasting effect on my life.
